Most clubs would be excited to have just one of their boys make the U/15 Victorian Country team. In 2010 the Geelong Amateurs had the rare distinction of having not just one, but four boys make the final state team. Scott Dixon, Will langley, Alex Hickey and Jacob Sharp were all selected in the 2010 Victorian team that travelled to Perth to compete in the Australian National Championships. In added recognition of their high regard by the state selectors Will Langley and Alex Hickey were also appointed co-vice captains of the team. All the Victorian boys carried themselves with distinction and were one of only three teams to lose only one game during the carnival. The Vic boys ended up in third spot, but, with a bit of luck, could well have brought home the championship. The boys from the Geelong Amateurs represented themseves, and their club with pride, and we as a club congratulate them wholeheartedly. Alex Hickey had an outstanding carnival and was named amongst the best players in all five games. As a result of this Alex was picked in the U/15 ‘All Australian’ team for 2010, a truly remarkable effort!
