Easy day at Newcomb

In stark contrast to last weeks results against Drysdale we came away from Newcomb with some resounding score lines. The final score of the senior match was clear evidence of the enormous gap that seperates the Newcomb side from not only the Geelond Amateurs, but also from most other teams in the Bellarine Football League competition. Our Reserves and Senior team had little more than  training runs as they over ran the sadly depleted Newcomb sides. It was a procession of goals as they liked as the Ammos did as they liked during the mismatch of the year. Even though the Geelong Amateurs came away with the four points and a much improved average there were no real winners from this game. The Newcomb club is battling for its survival, and even though its players know, that most Saturdays will deliver crushing defeats, they still take to the field proudly wearing their jumpers. We, of course, will gladly take the points as will most other clubs who do battle with Newcomb this year, but spare a thought for the players and the many volunteers around the club who are determined to ensure that it survives and provides the area with a much needed facility. It was an easy day for the Ammos but for the sake of the competition we wish Newcomb all the best for its future.
