Ammos player Hugh Goddard has always shown that he has what it takes when taking to the football field. Hugh has been a long time Geelong Amateur junior player for many years, from U/9 right through to the U/16′s. Hugh’s talent has been rightly recognised as he was selected to play in the ‘all Australian’ U/15 side in the Australian Football Championships in Canberra. Congratulations Hugh for this fantastic achievement .

It’s already been a year of milestones for Ammos champion player Trevor Edwards. Not only have Trevor, and wife Lauren, celebrated the birth of their first child Harry, but also on Saturday, against Modewarre, Trevor played his 100th game for the club. Congratulations to Trevor, and Lauren, for ‘both’ of these momentous events. As Lauren is an A grade netballer with the club we expect great things from this little Ammos recruit in the future.

1972 Player Re-Union

1972 proved to be of the most outstanding years in our clubs history. Not only did we win two premierships in that year but only narrowly missed out on taking the third. To commemorate this great year the club will be holding a function at our Queens Park clubrooms on Saturday June 9th at 12.00 noon. All players and club personnel from that era and the current era are invited to attend and join in the celebrations. Netball Rooms Opened

The opening of the clubs new netball rooms took place on Saturday in front of a large crowd. Councillor for Deakin Ward, Ron Nelson, cut the ribbon and officially opened the new facility. The new rooms were named the ‘Nicole Robertson Pavilion’ in recognition of the work that Nicole has contributed to the clubs netball section. The courts were officially named after the Trevaskis family who have also contributed much to the clubs netball section over many years.

Councillor Nelson has recognized the importance of our netball club to the area and has indicated that a third court will be established and the existing ones resurfaced in 2013. As well as this he is also hoping to have the road sealed from the existing main clubrooms through to the netball facilities.

2012 Player Auction

The clubs annual ‘player auction’ takes place this Saturday night 14th April at our Queens Park clubrooms from 8.00pm. This is your chance to ‘own’ one of your favourite players and the group that he or she is placed with. The best performing players each week are allocated points for their performances, and if that player happens to be in your group then you are a winner. This is a great chance to not only support our club but to have a bit of fun throughout the season and possibly pick up a bit of cash along the way. Reserves Umpire Required

With the season almost upon us the club is still seeking a person to fill the role of our reserves umpire for season 2012. The position requires an enthusiastic and fitness minded person ( male or female ) to umpire home and away games throughout the course of the year. The club will offer assistance, provide required uniforms and training, and meet any ‘on road’ costs that may be required to fulfill the role!

Not only will you get to run non-stop for 100 minutes but we will pay you as well!

This is a great opportunity to become involved with local footy on a ‘grassroots’ level. Whether you are an experienced umpire or someone interested in taking the next step in contributing to local sport we are keen to hear from you! Interested persons should contact Gavan Clark on 0438 440 025
