Juniors 2012

The Geelong Amateur Football and Netball Club has for many years given young footballers their first opportunity to play football in a team and club environment.
Our Junior Football Program puts the emphasis on giving our young players the best environment possible for them to not only have some fun but to also develop some football skills and to learn the value of belonging to and being a part of a team.

We have high standards when it comes to selecting and appointing our coaching staff and ensure that all our members are fully trained and accredited coaches and have obtained current ’ Working with Children’ criteria.

The clubs junior football representation has grown steadily over the past few years and we are currently fielding fourteen junior teams in the local competitions ranging from our under nine teams through to our under sixteen squads. Children enjoy the great experience of not only playing at home at Queens Park but also travelling to and playing other sides in our region. This year, as was the case last year, our junior football department is headed up by Tony Slack who is our current junior football delegate.Tony has behind him a great team of volunteer parents to assist him and is devoted to ensuring all young players get maximum enjoyment out of being involved with The Geelong Amateur Football and Netball Club junior program.

It is club policy that all players from junior to senior level wear mouthguards.  Stock mouthguards are available at most sporting stores.

The club supplies football jumpers in team colours to all club players. Players must provide their own shorts, socks, and boots. Shorts and socks are available in Geelong Amateur team colours from larger sporting stores.

In season 2012 our U/9, U/10, U/11, and U/12 junior sides will be training at Queens Park every Wednesday night from 4.30pm until 5.30pm.

Our U/14 and U/16 teams train every Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4.30pm until 6.00pm

Wednesday night is our ‘juniors night’ at the club with meals available in our clubrooms for parents and players alike from 6.00pm onwards.  This gives parents and children the opportunity to meet and socialise with other members of the club.
