Visitors to Queens Park this season will notice that the main scoreboard is now called ‘ The David Leigh Scoreboard’ as a tribute to one of the clubs longest contributors and supporters.
David first played with the club in 1958, and went on to play 150 games, most of them in the clubs 3rd eighteen side. David was also the secretary of the clubs social committee for 10 years, and was recognised for his contributions to the club by being named ‘Best Clubman’ 6 years in a row.
He is also the only member of our club to be awarded the Victorian Amateur Football Associations ‘Service Award to Amateur Football’.
Some of Davids other achievements include over 100 plus games as an official goal umpire, 9 years as the club delegate to the Geelong Football League, and 40 years as the club representative to the league tribunal.
David has, at some point, managed all of the clubs three senior football sides.
He is still actively involved with the club and is currently the official timekeeper for all senior games, a role he has been fulfilling for a staggering 30 years.
Now 73 years of age David shows no signs of ‘retiring’ from the timekeepers position.
The club congratulates and thanks David for the commitment he has given to the club over many years.
